Breathing, the Swinging Door Between the Inner and Outer World

Breath has a great effect on the our internal energy. When we gain an understanding of the relationship of breath to these energies, we are able to control them and benefit from them both mentally and physically.

In any sort of meditation, the key is focusing on your breathing, forget who you think you are, and become one with the eternal moment.

Breathing

by Shunryu Suzuki

When we inhale, the air comes into the inner world. When we exhale, the air goes out to the outer world. The inner world is limitless, and the outer world is also limitless. We say “inner world” or “outer world,” but actually there is just one whole world. In this limitless world, our throat is like a swinging door. The air comes in and goes out like a swinging door. The air comes in and goes out like someone passing through a swinging door. If you think, “I breathe,” the “I” is extra. There is no you to say “I.” What we call “I” is just a swinging door which moves when we inhale and when we exhale. It just moves; that is all. When your mind is pure and calm enough to follow this movement, there is nothing: no “I,” no world, no mind nor body; just a swinging door…. Read the rest of this entry »

Love You to Death

Can’t really sleep tonight, so I figure I’ll jot down some late-night thoughts and share a song. A song which brings out thoughts that are often hidden away beneath the surface. Indeed, I have found certain songs from this artist to cause great periods of reflection and contemplation.

Video: Love You to Death by Type O Negative

In her place one hundred candles burning – as salty sweat drips
from her breast
her hips move and i can feel what they’re saying – swaying
they say the beast inside of me is gonna get ya – get ya get –
yeah

Black lipstick stains – her glass of red wine – i am your servant
may i light your cigarette
those lips smooth yeah i can feel what you’re saying – praying
they say the beast inside of me is gonna get ya – get ya get –
yeah

Living Our Life Without Escape

Many of us spend a significant portion of our available time amusing ourselves with any number of entertainment escapes, most notably video games, internet surfing and television.

Entertainment activities, such as these, often cause the participant to avoid interactive activities, which are generally more physically engaging. Such activities also tend to lead the participant towards spending most of their available time amusing themselves, as opposed to accomplishing something that will benefit them over the long-run.

For many years I have observed the effects of entertainment obsession and contemplated the long-term effects of taking this path. Each time I considered the possibilities, I confirmed to myself that it is not possible to reach one’s potential if they are forever a spectator in their life and not an actual participant blazing a new path for themselves. Every fool, he is broken beneath the same unholy curse

The past, as we understand it, is a collection of lies. These lies have been passed down from generation to generation. With each successive generation, what little truth the people are aware of becomes diluted, time and ignorance envelop and dis-integrate the remaining vestiges of compassion and understanding. So we’ve reached a point, in this great cycle of being, where the truth is so diluted that we haven’t the foggiest idea who we are or where we are going. Read the rest of this entry »

Entering the library of the Akasha

Human creation such as families, laws, institutions, money, textiles, rooms, carpets, cars, etc have little significance in the greater scheme of things. This is so because the connections that we share are shared by all; they have nothing to do with civilization or any of the other imaginings of mankind. In the realm of the Akasha, each of us possesses a light body and recognizes that others are always spiritually connected.

Our universal connections are seldom understood, even though they are accessible by everyone; this is because the human mind tends to indoctrinated with one of the many popular cultures of humankind. The indoctrination process often causes the mind to become engrossed in the generally accepted reality and filter all else out of their awareness.

It is possible, however, to deactivate this firewall, of sorts, that we have created in our minds; a firewall which possessed the soul purpose of filtering out the myriad of things that are continuously streaming into our minds. It is essential that we open the gates to more of what exists so that we can have access to the greatest library of them all, the Akashic library.

A Different Drum

With all that is going on in the world today, we often find ourselves overwhelmed and confused. It is often difficult to decide what the thrust of our existence is to be in each moment. Many of the things that we discover are meant to do just that; this is why it is important to step back for a moment and re-discover the divinity within ourselves.

Journeys of re-discovery tend to begin with a trigger of some sort. It can be be triggered by a work of art such as a musical album or painting, an encounter with another and even a trip into nature. Regardless of the triggering event, it is important that we break familiar patterns in search of a new angle on things. Read the rest of this entry »

Promoting Planetwide Synergy Through Personal Discipline

Many of us, when we think of who and what we are, fail to realize that the Earth is an extension of our body and mind or, better yet, we are an extension of the Earth’s body and mind. When one of us wastes the fruit of the Earth, in one of the countless (unsustainable) ways that we, as a civilization, have devised to do so, they are wasting the very fruit of our collective body and mind; a condition which leads to the weakness of and the eventual death of the Gaian (Earth) mind/body/spirit complex. An Interesting Perspective on Earth’s Future

Aaron Donahue appeared last night on Coast to Coast AM with Art Bell and had some very interesting things to say. Perhaps we all share a group soul that will perish when the Earth dies.

Whether or not this is the case, much of the responsibility for what has happened to the earth belongs to the mainstream religions. These religions, generally, cause one to believe in eternal life despite what happens to the Earth.

I would imagine that this has something to do with the suicidal recklessness that we’re seeing through the world with respect to environmental concerns. There is a fairly high probability that the Earth will die relatively soon, in my view. Read the rest of this entry »

The Ethics of Ambiguity

Simone de Beauvoir is the brilliant mind behind this work; a work that forever changes the lives of those who read it. Here is my analysis of part of the introduction of my favorite book on Existentialism, The Ethics of Ambiguity:

The continuos work of our life,” says Montaigne, “is to build death.” He quotes the Latin poets: Prima, quae vitam dedit, hora corpsit. And again: Nascentes morimur. Man knows and thinks this tragic ambivalence which the animal and the plant merely undergo. A new paradox is thereby introduced into his destiny. “Rational animal,” “thinking reed,” he escapes from his natural condition without, however, freeing himself from it. He is still a part of this world of which he is a consciousness. He asserts himself as a pure internality against which no external power’ can take hold, and he also experiences himself as a thing crushed by the dark weight of other things. At every moment he can grasp the non-temporal truth of his existence. But between the past which no longer is and the future which is not yet, this moment when he exists is nothing. This privilege, which he alone possesses, of being a sovereign and unique subject amidst a universe of objects, is what he shares with all his fellow-men. In turn an object for others, he is nothing more than an individual in the collectivity on which he depends.

The warring spirits of Atlantean times…

According to the life readings given by Edgar Cayce, most of human history took place during the Atlantean civilization; for millions of years humans lived in Atlantis. This civilization was ripped apart by many of the same forces that divide our present civilization.

Cayce terms these forces the “Sons of Belial” and the “Sons of the Creative Force.” The Sons of Belial are obsessed with materialism and have little concept of spiritual awareness. The Sons of the Creative Force are a very spiritual people who were said to have advanced spiritually to levels only dreamt of in our time. Read the rest of this entry »
