Neurosis – Crawl Back In

by Neurosis

Hammer in skull I am waiting to return your suffering.
In my mind I see you distant, broken and lost again.

When you come back I won’t know you.
We won’t fit right like it was before.
Time is truth, hard and cruel
And my heart has turned to stone.
I crawled back in, I am hungry,
I made sure my traps are set in space.

We had been standing on these tracks,
All the winds never called us back.

We laid so long, eternal night, in my heart it never left.
I’ll stand here, you go on, when you see me I’ll be gone.
Every road brings us on the past is never forgiven it is atoned.

Neurosis – A Sun That Never Sets

I first listened to this song and the band who performed it several years ago, probably some time around 2004. A couple of friends and I went a place in the country, where we had a most profound consciousness-expanding experience. Deep into the experience, we watched this Sun that Never Sets DVD by Neurosis. It’s amazing what you can see in a video in that state of mind and what you can experience in a song.

I still remember, after that experience, I never looked at art or music the same way again. I was irreversibly transformed, in ways that would be difficult to describe here.

by Neurosis

A sun that never sets burns on.
New light is this river’s dawn.
When to speak of a word so old
Is to relearn what is known.
A time to think back and move on.
Rebuild the loves of lives long gone.
The blood that flows through me is not my own.
The blood is from the past, not my own.
The blood that leads my life is not my own.
The blood is strength, I’m not alone.

Neurosis – The Tide

by Neurosis

Where are they now?
They are gone.
I saw them run,
run to the sea.

Under the waves all has been said.
Their voices are free.
Free from the sun’s stare,
free from the noise of lost souls.

An exiled sound washed in with the tide.
Their voices are free.
Free from the sun’s stare,
free from the noise of lost souls.

On the waves their voice carries on.
