25 Megabits of Bandwidth Makes Everything Work Again
Our internet based applications seem to work quite a bit better with twice the bandwidth. Imagine that!
I called our ISP, Wow, this morning, to inquire about upgrades. I learned about a $10 upgrade that gives 25 megabits versus the 12 megabits I was getting.
That’s quite a bit more bandwidth per dollar than what I was paying.
It used to be, that if I were, say, uploading a large file, that everything else, even basic web browsing, would cease to function. I notice now that I can now download/upload files without causing problems.
I think it’s safe to say that, if you do stream video and use your internet connection to transfer large files, a 25 megabit is probably about right at this time.
This surprises me, as I would have thought much less bandwidth necessary; but in practice, it turns out that the larger pipe really is necessary to keep everything running smoothly.
